Dawkins poster printed.

Today I printed the Dawkins poster I printed using Grey stock from the library.

It printed really well. I think the black and use of red sits well on the grey stock.

I decided to keep to my initial format and print to an A2 portrait format.
Final Dawkins Poster.

Here is the final poster for the Dawkins quote. I'm really pleased with how it turned out.
It was quite difficult getting everything just right. I chose to emphasise the words AGAINST, BECAUSE AND THE WORLD in red because it seemed appropriate.

I'm going to try printing on a range of stocks but have chosen a grey for now.

I think having the person behind the quote in a very small point size relative to the quote works really well. The quote is the main focus and a very strong message so it made sense.

Adding the Y-FRONTS.

Open publication - Free publishing - More ougd301

Adding the relevant YFRONT illustration. Here I tried out different compositions
and also added colour.

At the end I settled for the attention to be solely on the quote and the Yfronts are an added touch for humour.

I also realised I have not included the person behind the quote.

Banner

Again, experimenting with more added elements.
Keeping with the traditional theme, I decided to add a banner.

After trying out the banner I think I prefer the type without banners. Not only does it clutter things up it's also quite cliche.
Experimenting with colour.

These are my current favourites. They vary from a 2 colour screen print to a 3 colour.
I've also sorted out the leading and alignment issues out.

Spotting other mistakes.

Whilst changing the colours and experimenting with scale, I've noticed these little gaps (I'm guessing they're from when I extended the shapes)

They're really really thin and quite hard to notice but seeing as I'm going to be screen printing these on quite a large scale I need to make sure it's solid black.

To fix this I moved the AFTERLIFE to a new layer and selected all the black using the magic wand tool.

I then deleted the black background.

Pasted it back but arranged it to the back

And after clicking the UNITE pathfinder, it covered up the cracks. I'm not 100% sure why but it's a great result.

Colour.

As I've come to find throughout the 3 years, colour can drastically change the meaning / impact
of a word or a statement. Seeing as I've designed the statement to be very strong visually, I
experimented using strong, primary colours.

EDIT - Just noticed some alignment issues regarding the 3D type. The E overhangs slightly. So that needs sorting!
