Sound plays a big part in idents. It can complete what you are trying to communicate to a viewer, or you can mislead them completely. Say for example - My top ten is Natural Disasters. So you wouldn't expect the Benny Hill theme tune to be running over footage of devastating disasters.

It would be interesting to hear a naration of a news reporter talking about the individual disasters over powerful, high impact visuals for added effect. 0.05 - 0.15 is perfect for what I want to achieve. It's the disaster in a nutshell but adds that extra impact.
Extracting the MP3.
To be able to work and play around with the audio behind the video I first need to extract the audio and convert it to mp3.
I did this by using a fantastic site called Listen To Youtube.
First of all I entered the URL into the site and clicked GO.
The site then began to extract the audio from the video.
This can take a while depending on how long/big the video is. In my case the video I used was 24 minutes so it took a while.
VOILA. It's that easy. I now need to download the extracted audio.
Now that I have my MP3 I can now drag it into after effects and play around with it.
