CONCEPT DEVELOPMENT.

GOOD IS THE HISTORY OF BEER.

Concept/statement - why is it good and why do people need to know?

People want to feel the beer they are drinking has a bit of history and tradition behind it.

Everything that we take for granted today, such as medical care and the written language was all built on the back of the history of beer.

Britain's pubs are right at the heart of every community in the country. They are a much loved part of our national culture, celebrated at home and abroad, and attract many visitors to Britain.

Who are my audience?
The 15 million people who socialise in the nations pubs every week.
Beer enthusiasts who wish to know the history behind their much loved beverage.

Concept

Beer has played an important role in the lives of many cultures throughout history, however it's impact on these societies is not widely known and taken granted for . This is a niche of history that while largely untaught is still, very interesting and something that pub goers or beer enthusiasts wish to know/more of. There is much more to beer than getting drunk. Behind the drunks and the bad press, lies a rich and full history which has shaped life as we know today. Beer history in print is full of "Uni lifestyle" and parody or it is something that is too complicated and confusing or perhaps even boring. I wish to make the information accessible, more appealing and concise so they don't feel overhwhelmed or confused by the information but also for them to feel like they are not being patronised at the same time.
